roma day 1

at the end of december, matt successfully finished his first semester of medical school and i completed my first half of graduate school. we were ready to party. rome first.

we flew lufthansa from seattle to frankfurt to rome. the airline was wonderful, and i would really recommend it. this was my first transatlantic flight, and i lucked out by having an empty seat next to me.

matt said he thought it would be cool to see a choir in a cathedral while we were in rome. one of the most amazing parts about rome is that not only are these gorgeous buildings around every corner, but so many of them are still in use.

day 1
our first night in town, we walked to piazza navona and noticed people going into this church. we went inside and listened to a choir perform beautiful christmas music in italian. matt's wish was granted! we loved this stunning 17th century baroque church.
Sant'Agnese in Agone at Piazza Navona our first night
after walking around piazza navona and looking at all the christmas lights all over the streets, we ate a delicious dinner at taverna lucifero, just around the corner from our hotel, bollo apartments. we were so tired and just trying to stay awake until at least 8 pm. i thought i would have to worry about matt, but i was the one really struggling. the buffalo mozzarella at lucifero really helped -- i don't know if i'll ever have better cheese for the rest of my life.
